Loved Up with THE KOOPLES
It might be pouring it down outside, but we’re still holding out for a summer of love! His ‘n’ Hers Parisian label The Kooples proves love is in the air, even if it is somewhere above the clouds…
Combining traditional tailoring with a modern, urban style, The Kooples was established in 2008 by Alexandre Elicha and his brothers Lauren and Raphael, sons of the designers behind the classic French womenswear label Comptoir des Cotonniers. “The Kooples aesthetic is a very chic Parisian silhouette with a twist of British dandy,” says Alexandre. “We couldn’t design clothes without the English preppy style.” Taking influence from both cities – the label has worked closely with London’s prestigious Savile Row tailors Norton & Sons – their collections are defined by clean cut, slim fitting staples such as suits, jackets, coats and shirts, all carefully designed for men and women. The Kooples’ unisex appeal is most obvious in their advertising campaigns, where real-life boy/girl beaus do the modelling. The twosomes, plucked from around the world, are beautiful, stylish and achingly cool, complementing the brand perfectly, as Alexandre explains: “People can recognise and identify themselves with the couples. They deliver the message of our brand.” So who is the definitive Kooples couple? “Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin!” a natural choice!" - i-D ONLINE...
